# What if Track Champions League had only been a keirin competition? *By Simon | December 10, 2024* --- ![UCI Track Champions League, Round 4: London](https://globalkeirin.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/12/AW6_0372.jpg) ## 󠀁[What if Track Champions League had only been a keirin competition?](https://globalkeirin.com/2024/12/what-if-track-champions-league-had-only-been-a-keirin-competition/)󠁿 10 December 2024 Just to satisfy our curiosity, we collated a ranking of UCI Track Champions League points, based only on the keirin races. Would it tell us anything different about the competitions, or the riders? (We’re assuming these are the competition’s final results, with round 5 declared void following the Marchant-Pröpster crash.) ## Men’s competition Anyone watching the men’s sprint events would have concluded it was a simple head-to-head between **Harrie Lavreysen** and **Matthew Richardson**, with **Cristian Ortega** occasionally interfering. But when you look at the collated keirin results, it was an incredibly tight three-horse race… with a _big_ jump back to everyone else. Richardson may have won twice, but his other placings cost him the overall. Second was **Steffie van der Peet**, the only other woman to make the final each time. **Emma Finucane**, best overall for match sprint, was only fifth for keirin. **Katy Marchant**, whose crash brought the final evening to a halt, is known as something of a keirin specialist: but she only made the final once, and placed 13th overall for keirin. (Based on sprints alone, she was 5th.)
