Keirin confirmed for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Glasgow 2026 will feature men’s and women’s keirin competitions, as part of the biggest track cycling programme ever seen at a Commonwealth Games.

Sprinters will be particularly pleased by the event selection, announced by the Glasgow 2026 Organising Company: it also includes team sprint, individual sprint and the kilo for both men and women.

Organisers are clearly leaning towards a more crowd-pleasing spectacle, dropping the Omnium and Madison – perhaps the most challenging for casual viewers, but including an Elimination race as a full medal event.

There will also be twice as many para track cycling events as at the last Games – hosted by Birmingham in 2022, but with the track cycling events taking place in London.

Glasgow stepped up to host a slimmed-down event, covering only 10 sports across just 4 venues, following the withdrawal of the Australian state of Victoria.
