Lauriane Genest was literally unbeatable at this week’s 2026 PanAmerican track cycling championships, defending both her sprint and keirin titles in Santiago, Chile.

Genest, currently ranked world no6, qualified fastest for the sprint competition, then won every ride on her way to gold. On Sunday, she won her first round, semi final and the final to earn her third keirin title too.

Stefany Cuadrado finished second, with McKenna McKee taking third. Last year’s bronze medallist, Yuli Verdugo was fourth. Another likely contender, Canada’s Sarah Orban had crashed in her first round ride, and was unable to continue in the competition.

Genest was drawn directly behind the pacer, but she had already shown she was quite happy to ride from the front. With the pace dropping after the motorbike’s exit, both Verdugo and McKee moved to take first place from her, with the Mexican arriving first.

Genest, though, was having none of it, coming around both – and drawing Cuadrado out of the line, clearly recognising this would be the decisive move. The Colombian moved out to attempt an overtake, but she didn’t have the power to pass the Canadian, who won comfortably by more than a bike-length. Cuadrado took second with her throw at the line, just ahead of McKee on the inside.

Daniela Gaxiola, unlucky to miss out on a final spot, was a comfortable winner of the minor final, emerging from Makaira Wallace‘s wake as the bell rang, and opening up a decisive gap through the final bend.
