Access to DerbyWheel’s website was restored early on June 1st, following an outage lasting several days, which raised concerns among prospective participants that the project had finally expired.
At some point on or around May 28th, the derbywheel.com website was replaced by an error message from its hosting provider Wix, declaring: ‘Looks like this domain isn’t connected to a website yet.’
The Global Keirin editorial staff wasn’t immediately concerned, hoping it was a simple administrative oversight. Automated renewals can fail for all sorts of reasons, such as an expired credit card number. Not even Google and Microsoft are entirely immune to forgotten online renewals.

Checking first thing this European morning, it was a relief to see the website had been fully restored. If nothing else, it’s proof of life.
But there is no new content, with the last News item being April 2024; and no update to the proposed schedule, which still declares that regular racing will begin ‘in 2026’, following an exhibition race at Newport.
The company’s last formal statement to riders, back in October 2025, promised that ‘DerbyWheel will be implemented’, with a launch plan to follow operational improvements ‘early’ in 2026.
